The Introductory Team Leader Award aims to give practising/potential team/cell leaders the foundation for their formal development in this role. The programme has two primary objectives: to assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by a team/ cell leader and to develop basic team leading skills. There are no formal educational entry requirements.

Length of Study: 72 hours minimum
Entry Requirements: No formal entry requirements
Content: Developing yourself as a team leader: understand the roles, functions and responsibilities of the team leader; and the limits of his/her authority and accountability; know how to seek, accept and respond positively to feedback on personal performance to improve workplace performance.
Developing the work team: understand the nature of teams and the features of team roles and responsibilities including the advantages and disadvantages; know how to identify training needs of a group or team and how those needs may be met
Workplace communication: understand the communication process; understand methods of communication; understand the importance of maintaining accurate records of one-to-one communication.
Study Method: Home based self-study with tutor support and on-line environment for help and advice
Assessment: Combination of college based and home-based assessments by arrangement with your tutor.
