Course content:

This course will be of benefit to individuals in their first supervisory or management role or looking to gain knowledge to pursue a management career.

Units include: Personal Development as a  First Line Manager, Resource Planning, Meeting Stakeholder Needs, Managing and Communicating Information, Developing Individual & Teams, Recruitment & Selection, Maintaining Quality Standards, Being a Leader, Improving Team Performance, Management Communication

SCQF Level: 7 (subject to re-levelling)

Entry Requirements: CMI or ILM Introductory Certificate in Management or relevant experience in a management position.

Study Mode: Part-time Evening, Twilight (1pm-8pm) or Distance Learning. Various start times in the session.

Progression to: Chartered Management Institute in Management and Leadership.

Career Paths: Career progression in a management role.

*It is possible to gain qualifications at award, certificate and diploma level within each CMI Course depending on the number of units successfully completed.

 DISTANCE LEARNING 

There are 3 different qualifications available:

The Award in First Line Management is a concise qualification which enables you to strengthen and develop your basic knowledge of this management area through focusing on specific skills areas.  You need to successfully complete at least one unit to a minimum of 6 credits.  The Award can take as little as 2 to 3 weeks.

The Certificate in First Line Management is a more extensive qualification which allows you to broaden your knowledge of effective management skills and techniques whilst still maintaining the flexibility to focus on the specific management elements.  You need to successfully complete a combination of units to a minimum of 13 credits.  The Certificate can take between 1 to 3 months.

The Diploma in First Line Management is a more comprehensive structured qualification developing a range of competences from effective recruitment and selection through to leading and developing individuals and teams.  You need to successfully complete all core units (Group A
