What is it?
If you feel that you need to improve your literacy and numeracy skills - maybe you missed out at school, or you want improve your job prospects, or you want to study at college, or you just want to develop yourself, then you should think about coming to the Core Skills Centre.

Who can use it?
Anyone who wants to improve their literacy and numeracy skills can use the facilities and services of the Core Skills Centre.

Individual learners can study either of the subjects on a flexible learning mode.  This means that you can choose a time that fits in with your lifestyle, and you can work at your own pace.

Teaching is geared towards the individual needs of the learner.  You will compile your own individual learning plan, with your own goals and aspirations.

Our learners come from a wide variety of backgrounds, with ages ranging from teens to eighties, some with qualifications, many with none.

Many of our learners are disabled, but we provide all kinds of support for learners with a physical disability, dyslexia, or mobility difficulties. The Core Skills Centre is fully accessible by wheelchair-users.

Basically, we can help everyone to learn new skills.

Where is it?
The Core Skills Centre is located next to the college library, in the Abercorn Conference and Learning Centre.

The Abercorn Building is right next to the main college building on Renfrew Road.

You are most welcome to come and visit us at the Centre to see for yourself how friendly, relaxed and informal it is.

 Cost?
Adult literacy and numeracy courses are FREE!

Fees may be waived for learners on low incomes, or learners in receipt of benefits, eg Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Asylum Seeker, Jobseeker, DLA, Severe Disablement Allowance, Incapacity Benefit , in which case, there will be no charge to the learner.
