Well known Australian actor, Dancer and TV Judge Adam Garcia described contemporary dancer Lauren Hair as his favourite in the last series of Sky 1’s Got to Dance and following her success finishing in second place on the show, Lauren is delighted to put her feet firmly on Scottish soil as she embarks on a Higher Dance qualification at Reid Kerr College in Paisley.

Lauren was 16 when she was selected as one the final 8 contenders making it through to the Got to Dance live show earlier this year and now at 17 years old, and the Got to Dance final behind her,  Lauren has been exposed to a great range of work experiences embracing all areas of the dance sector.  “I have been dancing from a very young age and I am focused on continuing with this for my career.  Got to Dance was an amazing experience and I never thought that from my initial audition last year that I would ever have got to the finals.

The past year has been a whirlwind of great experiences, challenging moments and a lot of pressure, so I am really looking forward to attending College full-time and working towards an HNC Dance.  While the show projected my profile into the world of dance, I am determined to keep my feet on the ground for the immediate future.  The course at Reid Kerr will help me achieve the relevant qualifications and also help with the development of my career.

I was pretty anxious about coming to College after taking part in such a major TV show, but it has been a great first few weeks at Reid Kerr and I have made some good friends already.  The year ahead will be really productive and I am particularly looking forward to dancing alongside other students at College as I have been dancing as a soloist for quite a while.

I am also very excited about the master classes delivered by national dance companies throughout the year, taking part in Scotland’s Go Dance Festival as well as performing at our end of year show.”

Lauren has high hopes to become a professional dancer within musical theatre, music videos and ultimately would love to open her own Dance School, something that she would love to see become a reality.  It was from her own experience of dance school that helped launch her into the recent competition and the work that has followed.

This year, Lauren will also be part of the national ‘streetfest’ tour, will make guest appearances and attend a range of charity events.
