Eric Site
Describing himself as ‘a very hands on’ person, Eric Site has taken his personal interests in Electronics and turned this into his future. The 19-year old from Uganda came to Scotland in 2009 and over the past two years has chalked up a range of qualifications including two HNC’s and an HND which he completes this month.
Eric said, “All of my family have come to Reid Kerr to study so it was a natural progression for me to follow in their footsteps. My older brother and sister have both completed HND programmes here at the College and this helped me when I came to live in Scotland.
I have always had an interest in Electronics and I wanted to take my interest further and study the subject to a higher level. Reid Kerr is a good place to study and I lived locally when I was here. Paisley is a quiet place and gave me the opportunity to apply myself to my studies allowing me to work hard on completing my courses to a high standard. Coming to College has definitely helped me to grow and I feel a lot more mature since travelling, living and studying in another country. The staff have been a great support and I have been made to feel very welcome.
I now hope to go on to University to study Electronics further and after a successful trip to Scotland I may even look into studying in another country to continue broadening my experience.”
Andrew Fogarty, Head of Energy and Utilities at Reid Kerr added, “Like many of his fellow students, Eric began his journey with an HNC Electronics and progressed onto the HND which culminated in an additional task. All of the students on the HND programme completed some additional units providing successful students with not only their HND but also an HNC Electrical to take away from College. Next session we are introducing the APM Introductory Certificate in Project Management as part of the course to equip our learners with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the job market.”
