These courses are ideal for anyone who has family, work or lifestyle commitments and are unable to study by conventional means. With a distance learning course you're free to study whenever and wherever you like - and still get support and understanding from a College tutor. You can update your skills in your own time and at your own pace.

What is Distance Learning?
Distance Learning gives you the choice and flexibility to study at a time and place suitable to your lifestyle and commitments. There is no need to attend college regularly, therefore putting you in control of your studies.
How Does Distance Learning Work?
Your study materials are delivered to your door allowing you to work through your course when you want to i.e. weekdays, evenings or weekends.
What Kind of Tutor Support Can I Expect?
Reid Kerr is your partner in learning and although you study on your own terms you can always be guaranteed on-going support. With each subject you will be allocated a dedicated personal tutor who is a specialist in your chosen area.
Your support doesn't end when you complete your course, as our student services and distance learning staff are always happy to advise you on your lifelong learning options with the College.

What Format Does the Training Material Take?
Each course is produced in a pack or online format providing comprehensive study materials encompassing all relevant information. Many are also supplied with supplementary information to complement your studies.
Where Can I Study?
Anywhere, the choice is yours. Whether it is at home or work, while travelling or when you have time to spare - you decide.
When Can I Start?
You can start your course at various times throughout the year. The official enrolment dates are at the start of every section. Please do not hesitate to contact the Distance Learning Section for further information.
What Can I Study?
An extensive choice of courses is on offer and you will find them detailed in this directory. New options are continually being added to the provision, so if you can't find information on a subject that interests you call our Distance Learning Hotline on 0141 581 2319.
How Long Will It Take?
Distance learning is all about you studying at a place which suits you - home, workplace or College. With each subject you will be allocated turor support. The length of time varies for each subject as does the tutor support, (see individual subject entries).
Do I Need Previous Qualifications?
Many distance learning courses have no entry requirements. Some advanced courses recommend you gain a basic qualification in the subject area. However, entry requirement guidelines are detailed in this directory.
How Much Does It Cost?
You will find detailed information on costs for each individual course in this directory. This cost includes quality course material and tutor support.
If you think you may be eligible for a fee waiver please contact us for further information. Fees may be paid by cash, cheque, credit card or postal order.
REFUNDABLE DEPOSITS: A refundable deposit will be required for students who require additional material to complete the course. Such deposits will be refunded on application at the end of the course/subject.
Do I Have To Sit an Exam?
Most courses rely on continuous assessment related to submitting work for marking. However some courses involve an exam, which can be sat at the College or on occasion alternative arrangements can be made with your tutor. Some assessments may require the presence of an invigilator. Your tutor will advise you in this instance.
Can I Get A Qualification?
Yes. Many of the courses lead to nationally recognised qualifications, but you do not need to follow this programme structure if you are studying purely for personal interest. With distance learning the choice is yours.

How Do I Get Started?
Once you have chosen your course complete the application form and return with the appropriate payment to the College. You will then be sent your welcome pack and your learning future begins.
