Aim:
This unit introduces you to manual book-keeping. It will enable you to understand the principles of double entry book-keeping. Additionally It will enable you to distinguish between the different types of VAT and record this tax in the accounting records.

Length of Study:
18 Weeks with tutor support.

Entry Requirements:
Competence in numeracy and communication skills. This may be evidenced by National Certificate modules Communication 4 and Mathematics or equivalent.

Contents:
The course covers recording business transactions into a double entry book-keeping system, extracting a trial balance and preparing a VAT return. It also covers incorporating control measures into the book-keeping system.

Study Mode:
Home-based, self-study with a tutor to contact for help and advice.

Assessment:
There are 2 written assessments that must be taken under supervised conditions.

Cost:
£100 + £12.50  SQA Fees.
