PDA Introduction to Tutoring in Adult Literacies Learning
Course Objectives:
This course is designed as an introductory course for individuals who teach adult literacies.
Course Aims:
The course aims to -
- explain the current context of adult literacies programmes in Scotland
- explain key principles of good practice in adult literacies provision
- explain how to build appropriate relationships with adult literacies learners
- explain how to support the learning process with adult literacies learners
- identify and deliver appropriate learning activities
Duration:
The course will be delivered over 16 weeks and will comprise face-to- face taught tutorials and self study. Participants will also undertake a work placement, under the supervision of an experienced adult literacies practitioner.
Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for this award however it is recommended that candidates should have or be working towards an SCQF Level 5 qualification or equivalent in communication and literacy
Progression:
This Professional Development Award is a recognized qualification and is leveled on the SCQF framework at level 6. A new Teaching Qualification in Adult Literacies (TQAL) is currently being piloted and the PDA: ITALL is the recognised entry qualification.
Course Costs:
The cost of the course is £250. You may be able to apply for an ILA £200 learning voucher if you meet the criteria.
