Aim
This course is designed to enable candidates to improve their current knowledge of health and safety, it will introduce them to the various Health and Safety UK and European Acts and legislation, and on completion of the award learners will have an understanding of the risks and hazards that can exist in the work environment and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
The award is suitable for learners seeking re-entry to the employment market with insufficient qualifications and/or experience or for learners who wish to access training within the health and safety sector.
Length of Study:
Flexible up to a maximum of 36 weeks tutor support.

Contents:
Introduction to Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Hazards, Risks and Risk Assessments
Electricity, Hazardous Substances (COSHH) and Fire Safety.
Work Equipment (PUWER) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and First Aid.

Assessment:
4 Written assessments completed at home.
