All at Sea for a New Career
Beauty Therapist, Nicole Burchill will be all aboard for a new career come August this year, when she takes to the high seas working for leading spa operator Steiner, on board a luxury cruise ship. Having just completed an HND Beauty Therapy at Reid Kerr College in Paisley, Nicole is among a unique group of therapists selected to work at sea. Steiner operates spas on over 150 luxury cruise ships giving therapist like Nicole the opportunity to work your way around the world visiting the places most people only dream of whilst doing the job you love.
Nicole's journey began at Reid Kerr College in 2005, when she enrolled for and NC Beauty which she then followed up with Access, HNC and the HND in Beauty which she completes this year. Twenty year old Nicole from Pollock said, "I was always interested in beauty as a wee girl and my mum was a big influence on my career. She would always involve me with her make-up and beauty regime at home, so I was introduced to beauty at an early age.
My training at Reid Kerr has been excellent and I have really enjoyed all aspects of the course especially helping to run the College's commercial salon and taking part in community events over the years. I completed training in a wide range of theory and practical based units including training on many of the products widely used in salons today. I have been fully trained in Dermalogica, CACI, Fake Bake and Jessica products as well as working on all the latest luxurious beauty trends such as Hot Stone Therapy. My training has allowed me to build up my own client base and I gained a lot of experience, all of which will set me in good stead for my job with Stenier."
Aoife Jennings, Steiner Recruitment Manager for Ireland and Scotland said, " Any student selected to join Steiner LTD really gets the opportunity of a life time. They get to further their career and see the world at the same time. Steiner only employs the best therapists and we wish Nicole all the best in her new adventure as she joins the Steiner team."
Nicole continued, "I am incredibly excited about this job which also requires me to spend time at the Steiner Training Academy in London where I will learn all about Steiner, their values as well as further training on the product ranges as well as learning new skills and techniques. I don't know what ship I will be working on, but I could be flown to anywhere in the world to begin my 9 month contract!"
Elizabeth Howard, Senior Lecturer in Beauty at Reid Kerr added, "We are all very proud of Nicole's achievements. She has been a very hardworking student and thoroughly dedicated to her career. We wish her all the very best of luck on her journey with Steiner and I have no doubt that she will be very successful in her future career."
