Norman Kajjajjatta, 27 from Uganda

Norman KajjajjattaA family business in Uganda gave Norman Kajjajjatta the inspiration to travel to Scotland and develop his training and qualifications.  Following his training in Bricklaying and Concrete Practise at St. Joseph's Technical Institute in Uganda and 1 year of on the job training, he visited the College's international office based in Uganda.

Norman said, "My family run their own construction company in Uganda and they were keen for me to learn about the industry in another country.  I heard about the HNC Construction Practice programme at Reid Kerr and felt that it would give me the additional knowledge of the industry that I was looking for.

The course at Reid Kerr is very well structured and I feel that the training is worthwhile.  Coming to Scotland has opened many doors for me and provided me with great life experience. There is a real sense of commitment from the lecturers and they have been very supportive.  When I attended my first few classes at college I found the Scottish accent a challenge!  My lecturer was happy to slow the lessons down for me and I find the classroom environment a lot more straightforward.

Once I complete my training at Reid Kerr this year, I aim to return to Uganda and use my training and experience from Reid Kerr to continue developing my future."
