Eric Ogwang, 20 from Uganda

Eric OgwangEncouraged by his dad to come to Scotland and study internationally, Eric enrolled for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) Engineering Electronics at Reid Kerr College last year following the successful results from his studies in Uganda.  Eric is keen to follow a career in Telecommunications and after 1 year at Reid Kerr he says that he is very happy here and glad to be continuing with his education in Scotland.

He said, "I am very interested in Telecommunications and after only 1 year of studies here, I now know what area of the industry I would like to work in.  I will return next term to continue with a Higher National Diploma (HND).  I have made some great friends here already and visited a few places in Scotland."

Eric was among the Engineering students from Reid Kerr College who were recently recognised at the annual Hammermen Awards for Engineering Students at the Trades Hall in Glasgow.  He was delighted to be presented with one of the prestigious top cash prizes awarded to engineering apprentices in the West of Scotland.  The incorporation of Hammermen annually presents Engineering Awards to students who can demonstrate their commitment to a career in Engineering.

Eric is planning to go to University in Scotland when he finishes at Reid Kerr College and has already looked into taking his degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in either Glasgow or Dundee.  This summer, Eric will meet up with his sister who is travelling to Scotland to begin a Beauty Therapy programme at Reid Kerr in August this year.  He is looking forward to having some family here and showing his sister around!
